Matcha powder

I am always trying to find natural remedies and substitution for big pharma pharmaceuticals. And in the process i came across Matcha powder.

There are an incredible amount of health benefits surrounding this superfood, the most interesting thing about it is its cancer fighting attributes.

  • When you drink matcha you ingest the entire leaf and receive 100% of the nutrients of the leaf
  • Matcha powdered green tea has 137 times more antioxidants than regularly brewed green tea.
  • One cup of matcha = 10 cups of regularly brewed green tea in terms of nutritional content

Amongst its many health benefits, Matcha…

  • Is packed with antioxidants including the powerful EGCg
  • Boosts metabolism and burns calories
  • Detoxifies effectively and naturally
  • Calms the mind and relaxes the body
  • Is rich in fiber, chlorophyll and vitamins

I drink a ton of green tea for its health benifits and weight loss/ fat burning attributes. Also because i fast intermittently, i need something zero calorie that isnt water or coffee. In saying that. Matcha is a great substitute. Or more like a ramp up version. Antioxidants are important for many different reasons.

If you break down the word antioxidants you get anti (against) oxidants (oxidation), meaning that antioxidants are substances that prevent cell damage caused by oxidation in the body. When certain types of oxygen molecules are allowed to float freely in the body they can cause oxidative damage, which creates what is known as free radicals.

These free radicals can be damaging to the body and have been linked to premature aging and cancer.Free radicals form when an atom or molecule splits and is left with an odd, unpaired electron. Antioxidants neutralize this cellular damage by donating one of their own electrons to end the electron ‘stealing reaction caused by free radicals. Much like how cancer is caused by the mutation of a cell during the proccess of it splitting and multiplying. So what does Matcha taste like?

“A good quality matcha is bright green and smooth. An average matcha will be yellow and grainy to touch—the tougher leaves of the tea bush,” says Cheadle. The quality of leaves impacts the taste. “A good matcha will not taste bitter at all; there will be a slightly sweet taste.” The taste is complex, rich, aromatic, astringent, and leaves an alluring sweetness post-drinking. When made in the traditional manner (ceremonial Matcha), it has a full-bodied flavour. … Due to the high chlorophyll and amino acid content, Matcha has a unique vegetable taste and a lingering sweet aftertaste. matcha-latte.jpg

Not only is Matcha good for you it has grown tremendously in popularity and can make for a great conversation starter when hanging around health nuts. We love to talk about the latest health craze. I love it so much a started a blog lol. Listen to meee.

Matcha un like coffee, does not make your heart race however it has more caffiene than a cup of coffee. 6.2 times more antioxidants than goji berries. It improves cognitive function also. I dont know about you but when i drink coffee i feel on edge and more snappy with my kids. I still drink it because i love it but when i drink Matcha i dont feel the same effect.

Does Matcha really burn fat?

Why yes it does. Matcha has been known to boost the metabolism, lower bad cholesterol, improve the cardiovascular system and is an anti-inflammatory which can aid in weightoss and fat burning as well as the repair of damaged cells. It can also improve dental hygiene by reducing bacteria in the mouth.

Can Matcha make you happy?

While nothing can MAKE you happy, matcha can definitely help. Matcha contains l-theanine which induces the production of serotonin and dopamine. Both are great for promoting positive vibes that enhance your mood, calm your  mind and boost memory and concentration.

Beware of imposters!

While there are plenty of products put there that are actually the real deal, there are peoe out there trying to sell cheap green tea ground up into powder and it is not at all the nutrient filled superfood you are looking for. Learn the difference. Matcha should be bright and vibrant in color due to the high content of chlorophyll. If your powder is dingy and bland you have been ripped off and return the product.
