I drink a ton of green tea for its health benifits and weight loss/ fat burning attributes. Also because i fast intermittently, i need something zero calorie that isnt water or coffee. Stress! It might be the cause to your problem thats causing you stress.

stress-symbol-300x239.jpgYeah sounds silly, and it is. How can stress be whats causing me stress? Well lets dive into what stress is.

Pressure or tention exerted on a material object.

While this is the definition pertaining to physical objects, it can also be true for ones emotions. Take the pressure of getting up for work or the tension at home because your significant other holds you to a standard that you dont stand a chance ever reaching. Society tells you you’re not good enough but you never feel like you have been givin a fair oppertunity to show your true value because you have been givin a value and its an hourly rate of not enough.

I will tell you. From experience. No one will ever pay you what you are worth. Because money isnt a payment for your value. Its a payment for your skills to preform a task that has a pre determined value behind it. And you have oppertunity everywhere to complete your own tasks with their own values, on your own time and for your reasons. But i digress.

Or take having kids, making sure they make it through the day properly clothed, fed and loved all while juggling the already seemingly insurmountable daily activities forced upon you by society and its standards.

What types of stress are their?

Given that stress has been linked as a co-factor in 95% of all diseases, a keystone of holistic, an alternative way to health and healing is learning how to effectively manage stress. This learning process begins with recognizing or identifying four specific types of stress affecting you and how these stressors are showing up or manifesting as symptoms in your life.

Stress factors fall into four types of categories:

physical stress,

psychological stress,

psychosocial stress,

psychospiritual stress.

Physical stress: trauma (injury, infection, surgery), intense physical labor/over-exertion, environmental pollution (pesticides, herbicides, toxins, heavy metals, inadequate light, too much friggin light, radiation, NOISE thats a big one for me, electromagnetic fields), illness (viral, bacterial, or fungal agents), fatigue, inadequate oxygen supply, hypoglycemia I (low blood sugar), hormonal and/or biochemical imbalances, dietary stress (nutritional deficiencies, food allergies and sensitivities, unhealthy eating habits), dehydration, substance abuse, dental challenges, and musculoskeletal misalignments/imbalances.

Psychological stress: emotional stress (resentments, fears, frustration, sadness, anger, grief/bereavement), cognitive stres (information overload, accelerated sense of time, worry, guilt, shame, jealousy, resistance, attachments, self-criticism, self-loathing, unworkable perfectionism, anxiety, panic attacks, not feeling like yourself, not feeling like things are real, and a sense of being out of control/not being in control), and perceptual stress (beliefs, roles, stories, attitudes, world view).

Psychosocial stress:relationship/marriage difficulties (partner, siblings, children, family, employer, co-workers, employer), lack of social support, lack of resources for adequate survival, loss of employment/investments/savings, loss of loved ones, bankruptcy, home foreclosure, and isolation.

Psycho-spiritual stress: A crisis of values, meaning, and purpose; joyless striving (instead of productive, satisfying, meaningful and fulfilling work; and a misalignment withn one’s core spiritual beliefs.

Overall, improperly or ineffectively managed stress usually takes a toll on the body. And if they continue over a long period of time can become very detrimental to your health.

When stress-related feelings, moods, emotions are pushed into the body,  this is usually termed psychosomatic or psychogenic illness, including headaches, heart palpitations, physical/cognitive/emotional pain and suffering, constricted throat and shallow, constricted breathing, clammy palms, fatigue, nausea, anxiety, allergies, asthma, autoimmune syndromes related to an ineffective functioning of the immune system, hypertension (high blood pressure), and gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, upset stomach, duodenal ulcers and esophageal reflux syndrome.

Prolonged stress can result in suppressed immune function, increased susceptibility to infectious and immune-related diseases and cancer. Emotional stress can also result in hormonal imbalances (adrenal, pituitary, thyroid, etcetera) that further interfere with healthy immune functioning.

In my oppinion most of this stress is caused by stress its self. We have convinced ourselves in and out of so many problems in our lives. Take for example the fracking in Antarctica, there is a percieved problem ie not having enough oil. So that stress caused a series of events to fix this non exsistant “problem” by drilling for more in a location people dont agree with. I dis agree with the use of crude oil to begin with but you didnt ask my stamd point on fracking. So these people (Green peace) take their stress caused by stress caused by stress and they get in a giant boat feuled by the exsact behavior they are protesting in turn adding to the neccesity of the proccess they are protesting. Sounds stressfull and counter productive. But thats the dumb stuff we do everyday.

So what are ways to reduce stress?

The top of my list is canabis. But thats not for everyone. Productivity would be the most effective in my oppinion. Why? Because getting things accomplished makes you feel a whole lot better than thinking about all the stuff you have to do and havnt done. Sounds simple. Just get off your butt and do stuff.

But stress can cause issues with the thyroid causeing weight gain therefore resulting in heart failure. Being over weight is also stressfull. Trying to tie your shoes is a chore depending on how severe. (Personal experience) so it is easy to say that these feelings are induced by ones personal decisions.

So other than action itself what actions can you take to reduce stress.

1. Take a walk.

Walks have been known to help clear the mind and are also good for keeping healthy. Once again these go hand in hand.

There are lots of scented candles out there that can relax you. Lavender, frankencence, eucalyptus, pepermint. I use all of these essential oils as well. They are a part of my supplement package. I take them as seriously as a multi vitamin. Because of how detrimental stress can be for muscle repair. And over all mood.

3. Take a nap.

Ya have a kid? Is that kid grumpy when its tired? Doesnt it help to put the kid down for a nap? Well sorry to tell you, we are just big kids. In fact. We have more of a need for naps because much more is required of us. Find a way to incorporate a nap in here and there. Your mind body and soul will thank you.

4. Play with your pet

Sometimes we just need physical interaction and seaking it from humans comes with its own stressors and potential let downs. And your animal is sittin there waiting for the interaction. Love eachother. It helps lower stress.

5. Turn off your tv and put down your phone.

Take a break from technology. Like i expressed earlier, lights, noise, unecessary information all lead to stress. And all youre going to get from a screen are these things. What your third cousin made for her husband for dinner will still be on facebook later, im sure it can wait.

6. Spend time in nature.

My favorite place to be is in the woods at the edge of a cliff. No person in site for miles.

7. Eat healthy foods

Diet has a huge impact on how we feel. Too much caffine and too much calcium actually shortens the gap between Neuro transmitters and causes a quicker reaction between what has happened and your response. Think of how that can negatively effect your life. Food is you. You are food. So if youre eating garbage guess what. So pay attention to what you put into your body.

How to reverse and cure cancer naturally without chemo.

Scientific research over the past quarter century has lead to the discovery of the causes of cancer.

Mutations are the cause of cancer. There are numerous articles on the potential causes of cancer, however these are the main circumstances.

  • Random errors occur everytime a cell devides and copies a cell to make new cells. This happens millions of times a day. Cancer comes into play when this process effects a good gene.
  • Environmental. Most people add to these mutations with their behavior. Examplea of this would be smoking, laying in the direct sun or using unsafe skin products.
  • Genetic inheritance. Lets use football as an example.  While passing a ball down the field during a game there are going to be errors. They are an inevitable consequence of the game. Just the same as mutations happening when the cells devide.
  • Behavior, playing football after a night of drinking will cause more errors, just like certain behaviors cause more mutations when cells devide. An inherent factor would belike having the same crappy coach on the team but keep switching out the players.

So what are some behaviors and environmental factors to avoid?

 

Obesity.

Obesity is a huge contributor to cancer, right next to smoking. Why does obesity cause cancer?

Well it is because fat is active throughout the body causing deficiencies of important things that make the body run properly. Like growth hormone, sex hormone and causes inflimation. All these things lead to rapid cell division which increase probability of cell mutations.

The more obese and the more time being obese the more chances you have to catch cancer.

 

HPV.

This is actually what sparked my reasoning for this artical. Someone near and dear to me is in prestage cervical cancer from hpv. HPV or Human Papaloma Virus, mostly linked to cervical cancer and women.

There are 140 different types of HPV. Some are low risk and some are high risk. The high risk hpv are known to cause almost all cervical cancer.  Studies show 50 percent of all men have hpv. It puts us at greater risk of having cancer as well.

Recent studies have shown that head and neck cancer in men can be associated with HPV. 2/3 of tounge and tonsil cancers are caused by hpv. slide014.gif

The real issue is, as earthlings we are constantly exposed to carcinogens in our daily life. Whether it be from pollution, tainted water, plastic secretions, sexually transmitted diseases or our nutrition and diet and hundreds of other things.

Knowing that what we do and consume is a large contributing factor, why dont we pull our heads out of… ill just say a hole in the ground, and do something about it.

 

What can i do to reverse the growth of cancer?

The fact of the matter is Big pharma is the opposite direction you are going to want to look if you want the truth about a cure. Also anyone telling you they can cure cancer but making you buy a book or program first is an asshole and obviously doesnt have your best interest on mind. In saying that i would also like to say that science has shown time and time again that Cancer can not live in an alkaline environment.

So what does that mean? Basically what that means is that cancer prefers a high acidity level.

This means that controlling ones pH is essential in the proccess of ridding the body of cancer. What kinds of foods or activities lower your acidity and raise your ph?

There are a ton of products out there that aid in ridding tje body of cancer which i will get to in a moment but ill start here with Nutrition.

Choosing an alkaline diet is actually quite simple. SO I DONT WANT TO HEAR ANY EXCUSES!

Start with eating 70% Alkaline foods such as vegetables and legumes. ( peanuts, almonds broccoli, spinach, sunflower seads,ect) 30% acidic foods such as meat and carbs. By carbs i mean proccessed carbohydrates. Fruits are good for you. But just eating fruits isnt. Here is a good start.

1. Eat green
Fresh fruit, vegetables, roots, nuts and legumes are alkalizing to the body, so increase the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat. Aim to have some at every meal and make vegetables the focus rather than meat or grains. Reach for dark or dark green such as beetroot, avocado, broccoli, spinach, kale, peas, beans and cucumber.

2. Reduce acidic foods
You don’t have to cut them out altogether but try and limit your intake of meats, eggs, refined sugar, white flour and dairy. You ever wonder why sugar is white and flour is white when neitjer one are derived from its natural scource that color? Bleach!

3. Limit alcohol consumption
Most alcoholic beverages have a high sugar content and are highly acidic. You don’t have to cut it out altogether if you enjoy the occasional beer or glass of wine, but be aware of what you are drinking.

4.Exercise

I cant stress this one enough. How do you expect to be healthy if you dont get off your butt and break a sweat?  Exercise reduces acid in the body by giving it an exsit through our pores through sweating. Also it helps oxiginate the blood in your body in turn alkilizing it.

5.Reduce stress

Stress raises acidity in your body and contributes to build up of acid. Spend time meditating or if that sounds to hippy for you sit in a room and clear your mind of thought and focus on breathing. Yoga helps with this as well as increases mobility and flexibility. Exercise also reduces stress and helps the immune system.

6. Drink Alkaline Water!

I reccomend at least 8 to ten glasses a day. Society has given us too many unhealthy beverage option on the go. If you are pre cancer and drinking anything more than drinking alkaline water you either dont believe me or scientists who built their education around preventing cancer. Or you just dont care. Otherwise youre incapable of making intelligent decisions and do us all a favor and find an island to spend the rest of your years on. In looking for a ph level strive for 7 to 9. While most tap water is around 6 Alkaline water is usually around 9. Which does much better at reducing the amount of acidity in the body.

There are other benifits of an Alkaline diet such as weightloss, higher energy level and a lowered risk of type 2 diabetes, improves the health of your bones and reduces cramps caused by a high acidity level.

For the sake of this article you just woke up. You feel hungry but you just started intermittent fasting and you cant eat for another 6hours. Whats the first thing youre going to want to consume? Well since you cant have any calories because that will break your fast, but you really want to curb that hunger feeling.

Green tea is a good substitute since it also jelps with weight loss and burning fat.

Like anything else, balance and moderation is the key to success. So since you have your morning and afternoon schedual free of preparing meals or worrying about what to eat you are free to go to work, go on a hike. Jump right into your workout. Wether it be at golds gym or 24hr fitness or at the park. I tend to work out a lot at the park because i have two kids and they love the park.

My oldest is into fitness like i am, so its exciting to watch her strive to be better than before.

In the ever changing world of health and fitness there are lots of trends out there. Whether it’s a low carb diet, or Atkins diet, vegan, non gluten, you name it.

Its hard to figure out which one is right for you. In my experience its never fun counting calories, eating bland foods, or if youre into weight lifting, spending all your time planning meals and eating. I own my own business and am a full time single dad and i dont have time for anything extra.

That is what lead me to pursue intermittent fasting. Ever since i started fasting 16 hours and eating my meals in an 8hour window not only have i been able to see a dramatic increase in muscle gain, ive also cut fat in record time. I have better mentle clarity and im able to focus on tasks unlike ever before.

Intermittent fasting is not a diet, it’s a pattern of eating. It’s a way of scheduling your meals so that you get the most out of them. Intermittent fasting doesn’t change what you eat, it changes when you eat.

Why is it beneficial  to focus on when you’re eating?

Well, it’s a great way to get lean without going on a crazy diet or cutting your calories down to nothing. How Does Intermittent Fasting Work?

To understand how intermittent fasting leads to rapid fat loss we must first understand the difference between the feeding state and the fasted state.

Your body is in the fed state when it is digesting and absorbing food. Typically, the fed state starts when you begin eating and continues for three to five hours as your body digests and absorbs the food you just ate. When you are in the fed state, it’s very hard for your body to burn fat because your insulin levels are high. insulin blocks your bodies ability to burn fat.

After that timespan, your body goes into what is known as the post–absorptive state, which is just a fancy way of saying that your body isn’t processing any food. The post–absorptive state lasts until 8 to 12 hours after your last meal, which is when you enter the fasted state. It is much easier for your body to burn fat in the fasted state because your insulin levels are low.

When you’re in the fasted state your body can burn fat that has been otherwise inaccessible during the fed state.

Because we don’t enter the fasted state until 12 hours after our last meal, it’s rare that our bodies are in this fat burning state. This is one of the reasons why many people who start intermittent fasting will lose fat without changing what they eat, the amounts they eat, or how often they exercise.

Fasting puts your body in a fat burning state that you rarely achieve during a normal eating schedule.

The Benefits of Intermittent Fasting

Fat loss is great, but it isn’t the only benefit of fasting.

  1. Intermittent fasting makes your day simple.

I’m big on simplicity, and reducing stress. Intermittent fasting provides additional simplicity to my life that I really enjoy. When I wake up, I don’t worry about breakfast. I just grab a glass of water then usually a dark black cup of joe and start my day.

I enjoy eating and I love cooking which has been difficult because i have two kids that arn’t on an intermittent fasting schedual but thats beside the point , so eating three meals a day was never a hassle for me. However, intermittent fasting allows me to eat one or in my case two less meals, which also means planning one less meal, cooking one less meal, and stressing about one less meal. It makes life a bit simpler and who doesn’t  like that.

2. Intermittent fasting helps you live longer.

Scientists have long known that restricting calories is a way of lengthening life. From a logical standpoint, this makes sense. When you’re starving, your body finds ways to extend your life.

There’s just one problem: nobody wants to starve themselves in the name of living longer.

I don’t know about you, but I’m interested in enjoying a long life. Starving myself doesn’t sound that appetizing.

The good news is that intermittent fasting activates many of the same mechanisms for extending life as calorie restriction. In other words, you get the benefits of a longer life without the hassle of starving.

Way back in 1945 it was discovered that intermittent fasting extended life in mice. (Here’s the study.) More recently, this study found that alternate day intermittent fasting led to longer lifespans.

3. Intermittent fasting may reduce the risk of cancer.

This one is up for debate because there hasn’t been a lot of research and experimentation done on the relationship between cancer and fasting. Early reports, however, look positive.

This study of 10 cancer patients suggests that the side effects of chemotherapy may be diminished by fasting before treatment. This finding is also supported by another study which used alternate day fasting with cancer patients and concluded that fasting before chemotherapy would result in better cure rates and fewer deaths.

Finally, this comprehensive analysis of many studies on fasting and disease has concluded that fasting appears to not only reduce the risk of cancer, but also cardiovascular disease.

4. Intermittent fasting is much easier than dieting.

The reason most diets fail isn’t because we switch to the wrong foods, it’s because we don’t actually follow the diet over a long piriod of time. It’s not a nutrition problem, it’s a behavior change problem.

This is where intermittent fasting shines because it’s remarkably easy to implement once you get over the idea that you need to eat all the time. For example, this study found that intermittent fasting was an effective strategy for weight loss in obese adults and concluded that “subjects quickly adapt” to an intermittent fasting routine.

Dr. Michael Eades, who has tried intermittent fasting himself, on the difference between trying a diet and trying intermittent fasting.

“Diets are easy in the contemplation, difficult in the execution. Intermittent fasting is just the opposite — it’s difficult in the contemplation but easy in the execution.

Most of us have contemplated going on a diet. When we find a diet that appeals to us, it seems as if it will be a breeze to do. But when we get into the nitty gritty of it, it becomes tough. For example, I stay on a low–carb diet almost all the time. But if I think about going on a low–fat diet, it looks easy. I think about bagels, whole wheat bread and jelly, mashed potatoes, corn, bananas by the dozen, etc. — all of which sound appealing. But were I to embark on such a low–fat diet I would soon tire of it and wish I could have meat and eggs. So a diet is easy in contemplation, but not so easy in the long–term execution.

Intermittent fasting is hard in the contemplation, of that there is no doubt. “You go without food for 24 hours?” people would ask, incredulously when we explained what we were doing. “I could never do that.” But once started, it’s a snap. No worries about what and where to eat for one or two out of the three meals per day. It’s a great liberation. Your food expenditures plummet. And you’re not particularly hungry. … Although it’s tough to overcome the idea of going without food, once you begin the regimen, nothing could be easier.”

In my opinion, the ease of intermittent fasting is the best reason to give it a try. It provides a wide spectrum of health benefits without requiring a massive lifestyle change.

Examples of Different Intermittent Fasting Schedules

If you’re considering giving fasting a shot, there are a few different options for working it into your lifestyle.as described in the video above.

Daily Intermittent Fasting

For the most part, I follow the Leangains model of intermittent fasting, which practises a 16–hour fast followed by an 8–hour eating period. This model of daily intermittent fasting was popularized by Martin Berkhan of Leangains.com, which is where the name originated.

It doesn’t matter when you start your 8–hour eating period. You can start at 9am and stop at 5pm. Or you start at 3pm and stop at 11pm. Do whatever works for you. Eating around 1pm and 8pm works well because those times allow you to eat lunch and dinner with friends and family. I prefer to eat alone so time frames dont apply to me.

Leangains daily intermittent fasting

Because daily intermittent fasting is done every day it becomes very easy to get into the habit of eating on this schedule. Right now, you’re probably eating around the same time every day without thinking about it. Well, with daily intermittent fasting it’s the same thing, you just learn to not eat at certain times, which is incredibly easy.

One potential disadvantage of this schedule is that because you typically cut one or two meals out of your day, it becomes more difficult to get the same amount of calorie intake during the week. Put simply, it’s tough to teach yourself to eat bigger meals on a consistent basis. The result is that many people who try this style of intermittent fasting end up losing weight. That can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

 I  practice intermittent fasting consistently . My times are not always consistant. For exsample the other day i fasted 20 hours as for my regular schedual is 16 or 17. You dont start seeing the massive results until hour 16 and more so every hour there after exponentially getting better until hour 26 your body starts burning muscle glycogen and if youre fasting for looks its not something you look for. I work on building healthy habits that guide my behavior 90% of the time, so that I can do whatever I want during the other 10%. If I go out with some freinds and they all want to grab a bite to eat and we get there and its a gourmet cheeseburger joint and its 11pm, guess what? I don’t care that it’s outside my feeding period, its a cheeseburger.I’m eating it. As long as i maintain my schedual, fasting is so efficient in burning fat it wont matter.

Weekly Intermittent Fasting

One of the best ways to get started with intermittent fasting is to do it once per week or once per month. I jumped right into 5 days a week with  weekends off. The occasional fast has been shown to lead to many of the benefits of fasting we’ve already discussed, so even if you don’t use it to cut down on calories consistently there are still many other health benefits of fasting.

The graphic below shows one example of how a weekly intermittent fast might play out.

In this example, lunch on Monday is your last meal of the day. You then fast until lunch on Tuesday. This schedule has the advantage of allowing you to eat everyday of the week while still reaping the benefits of fasting for 24 hours. It’s also less likely that you’ll lose weight because you are only cutting out two meals per week. So, if you’re looking to bulk up or keep weight on, then this is a great option.

I’ve done 24–hour fasts in the past  and there are a wide range of variations and options for making it work into your life. For example,  the day after a big holiday feast is often a great time to throw in a 24–hour fast. I did a 24 fast on black friday. Shopping in that environment was much more approachable while benefiting from the mental clarity you get from fasting.

Perhaps the biggest benefit of doing a 24–hour fast is getting over the mental barrier of fasting and realizing your hunger pains are not hunger at all but your body lacking minerals such as potassium or sodium. If you’ve never fasted before, successfully completing your first one helps you realize that you won’t die if you don’t eat for a day.

Alternate Day Intermittent Fasting

Alternate day intermittent fasting incorporates longer fasting periods on alternating days throughout the week.

For example, in the graphic below you would eat dinner on Monday night and then not eat again until Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, however, you would eat all day and then start the 24–hour fasting cycle again after dinner on Wednesday evening. This allows you to get long fast periods on a consistent basis while also eating at least one meal every day of the week.

This style of intermittent fasting seems to be used often in research studies, but from what I have seen it isn’t very popular in the real world. I’ve never tried alternate day fasting myself and I don’t plan to do so.

The benefit of alternate day intermittent fasting is that it gives you longer time in the fasted state than the Leangains style of fasting. Hypothetically, this would increase the benefits of fasting.

In practice, however, I would be concerned with eating enough. For some, teaching yourself to consistently eat more is one of the harder parts of intermittent fasting. You might be able to feast for a meal, but learning to do so every day of the week takes a little bit of planning, a lot of cooking, and consistent eating. The end result is that most people who try intermittent fasting end up losing some weight because the size of their meals remains similar even though a few meals are being cut out each week. I dont have this problem i break my fast with a tblspn of mct oil which has 15g of saturated fat plus big honkin salads such as the one below.

If you’re looking to lose weight, it isn’t a problem not eating enough calories. And even if you’re happy with your weight, this won’t prove to be too much of an issue if you follow the daily fasting or weekly fasting schedules. However, if you’re fasting for 24 hours per day on multiple days per week, then it’s going to be very difficult to eat enough of your feast days to make up for that.

As a result, I think it’s a better idea to try daily intermittent fasting or a single 24–hour fast once per week or once per month.

Frequently Asked Questions, Concerns, and Complaints

I’m a woman. Should I do anything differently?

I haven’t worked with women on implementing an intermittent fasting schedule and i am a male, so I can’t speak from experience on this one.

That said, I have heard that women may find a wider window of eating to be more favorable when doing daily intermittent fasting. While men will typically fast for 16 hours and then eat for 8 hours, women may find better results by eating for 10 hours and fasting for 14 hours. The best advice I can give anyone, not just women, is to experiment and see what works best for you. Your body will give you signals. Follow what your body responds favorably to.

Also, if you’re a female, there is an all‐female page on Facebook that discusses intermittent fasting. I’m sure you could find a ton of great answers and support there.

I could never skip breakfast. How do you do it?

I don’t. Breakfast foods are my favorite, so I just eat them at 2pm each day. And a lot more of them.

Also, if you eat a big dinner the night before, I think you’ll be surprised by how much energy you have in the morning. Most of the worries or concerns that people have about intermittent fasting are due to the fact that they have had it pounded into them by companies that dont care about your health and just want to make money, that they need to eat breakfast or they need to eat every three hours and so on. The science doesn’t support it and neither do my personal experiences.

I thought you were supposed to eat every 3 hours?

You may have heard people say that you should have six meals per day or two big meals and snack all day or eat every 3 hours or something like that.

Here’s why this was a popular idea for a brief period of time:

Your body burns calories when it’s processing food. So the thought behind the more meals strategy was that if you ate more frequently, you would also burn more calories throughout the day. Thus, eating more meals should help you lose weight.

Here’s the problem:

The amount of calories you burn is proportional to the size of the meal your body is processing. So, digesting six smaller meals that add up to 2000 calories burns the same amount of energy as processing two large meals of 1000 calories each.

It doesn’t matter if you get your calories in 10 meals or in 1 meal, you’ll end up in the same place.

This is crazy  If I didn’t eat for 24 hours, I’d die.

Honestly, I think the mental barrier is the biggest thing that prevents people from fasting because it’s really not that hard to do in practice.

Here are a few reasons why intermittent fasting isn’t as difficult or “nuts” as you think it is.

First, fasting has been practiced by various religious groups for centuries. Medical practitioners have also noted the health benefits of fasting for thousands of years. In other words, fasting isn’t some new fad or crazy marketing ploy. It’s been around for a long time and it actually works.

Second, fasting seems foreign to many of us simply because nobody talks about it that much. The reason for this is that nobody stands to make much money by telling you to not eat their products, not take their supplements, or not buy their goods. In other words, fasting isn’t a very marketable topic and so you’re not exposed to advertising and marketing on it very often. The result is that it seems somewhat extreme or strange, even though its really not.

Third, you’ve probably already fasted many times, even though you don’t know it. Have you ever slept in late on the weekends and then had a late brunch? Some people do this every weekend. In situations like these, we often eat dinner the night before and then don’t eat until 11am or noon or even later. There’s your 16–hour fast and you didn’t even think about it.

Finally, I would suggest doing one 24–hour fast even if you don’t plan on doing intermittent fasting frequently. It’s good to teach yourself that you’ll survive just fine without food for a day. Funny side note, im a huge fan of naked and affraid and other survival shows and that was the catalyst to spark my interest in fasting. It was a mentle test that i now put myself through  regularly. Plus, as I’ve outlined with multiple research studies throughout this article, there are a lot of health benefits of fasting.
